2013 Giro – Stage 13 – Fastest. Fact.

CavGiro4

Have you ever visited Mark Cavendish’s website? That’s what is says in the browser title bar: Fastest Man on Two Wheels. Fact. Now, some may enjoy that brazenness, and some may chalk it up as another reason to hope some young sprinter blasts past Cav and we get to see the Manxman have a hissy fit again. When you win four stages in a Grand Tour you’re pretty damn fast. When you do this consistently in each Grand Tour you enter it’s getting pretty clear that you are, in fact, the fastest.

Big news on the day was that Ryder Hesjedal AND Bradley Wiggins both withdrew from the Giro due to their respective illnesses. I’m not going to say much about that, and there are strong opinions to be had the more you think about it, but I will say that the Tour just got a lot more interesting and leave it at that.
