2013 Giro – Stage 12 – More Chaos in the Rain

Another crazy day in the Giro, with a determined breakaway, poor conditions in the wet and a massive split in the peloton which cost Wiggins any hopes of the overall. The break, containing Felline, De Haas, Blekov,  fought hard until the very end of the stage, holding off the charging peloton containing the Maglia Rosa into the final 500 meters, but it was Mark Cavendish who blasted out of the group and took the win on the flat finish.

Bradley Wiggins was caught out again in the slick conditions with the descent and he and half of Team Sky tried to limit the damage but it was of little use as Wiggins lost 3 minutes 17 seconds on the day.
