Tony Martin defends WTT Title. Phinney silver, Kiryienka Bronze.

Tony Martin passed Alberto Contador early on in the race and never looked back as he powered his way to a slim victory over America’s Taylor Phinney. The race was one of the closest finishes in World Champioship TT history and certainly under this modern format. Vasil Kiryienka finished in third a whopping 1’45” behind the top two riders. The aforementioned Alberto Contador managed to recover after losing nearly 1 minute in the first 14 kilometers and finished in 9th – 2’30” back. The top Canadian was Svein Tuft who crossed the line 12th, nearly 3 minutes down.
