Critérium du Dauphiné – Stage 4 TT – Wiggins Dominates

I don’t think much more can or needs to be said. Bradley Wiggins has got some kind of form this year just weeks before the Tour de France. The big test of the Dauphiné this year, that was intriguing to many, was today’s 53.5km timetrial. Thanks for coming out guys, coats are on the hangers, Brad owns this place. Wiggins set a near unbelievable time coming in at 1h03’12” beating second place Tony Martin by 34 seconds. He also beat Cadel Evans by a significant 1’43”, Denis Menchov by 3’12” and Andy Schleck (in his defense he crashed) by 10’47”.

Psychologically, this is a massive advantage to Brad for the Tour. He now holds the leader’s jersey by 38 seconds over Tony Martin and 1’44” over Cadel Evans. The riders climb over the Grand Colombiere tomorrow, but finish is downhill into town. The following day is more of the same. The finale on Sunday is the only uphill finish of the race at Chatel. Things are starting to look quite routine for Brad. If I were the others, I’d hope he can’t hold this form…. or I’d be worried.
