Joaquim Rodriguez conquers the Mûr de Huy.

After finishing second the last two years, J-Rod has finally won the race we all knew he could win. In fact, I think he could hardly believe that it finally happened judging by his reaction. In what seems to be a classic perfectly suited for the featherweight Catalan, there had always been one better. Not today, as Rodriguez waited patiently as the peloton gobbled up the suicidal attack of Ryder Hesjedal and Lars Peter Nordhaug, and then he launched at the perfect time with just over 250m to go. The battle for second place was much closer than it was for first as Rodriguez had plenty of time to celebrate while spinning over the line. Michael Albasini grabbed the second step on the podium, just edging out last year’s winner Philippe Gilbert.
