Sep Vanmarcke wins Omloop!

In what made for an incredible first cobbled race of the season, personal favourite Sep Vanmarke (actually who am I kidding, I have the whole podium in my cycling pool!) won the Omloop with a great display of punchy riding and an impressive, yet perhaps unexpected out-sprinting of Tom Boonen. Team Sky and Omega-Pharma Quickstep have got to be kicking themselves a little as with about 20 km to go they were in a group of 5 with two Sky and two OPQS riders.

Vanmarke blew that group apart and provoked the decisive move which likely paved the way to his win as he reduced the numbers to three and gave himself even grounds with the two veterans. From there the three leaders, who possessed a two minute lead at points, cat and moused their way into Ghent and it was Flecha who lead them into the line with Boonen countering perhaps a little early and fading as Sep Vanmarke came around him for the win.
