Giro D’Italia – Stage 12 – Cav Double

Mark Cavendish has doubled up his win total on today’s very flat, very straight and, dare I say, very boring 12th stage to Ravenna. It’s not often that the Giro features stages with few opportunities to shake an inevitable sprint up a little, but today’s stage was one of those few stages. It was a very predictable journey to the final km, with a predictable outcome, a predictable winner in a very Tour-esque sprint stage. Cav stated before the stage that he would retire after today because he may not make it through the mountains under the time limit and that it really wouldn’t be good for his form. Guess it’s hard to argue that, but it always feels unfortunate.
