Michael Matthews, the 20 year-old future Rabobank cobbles star from Canberra, has won the 3rd stage of the Tour Down Under. Matthews beat both two-time champion Andre Greipel, who finished second, and Crit and Stage 1 winner Matthew Goss, who came in third, to the line after 129km’s of racing from Unley to Stirling.
Matthew Goss (HTC) regained the overall lead with a 2 second advatage of Greipel (Lotto) and 4 seconds over McEwen (Radioshack). Two seconds isn’t much, and anything can happen, so the remaining three sprint stages should provide an exciting battle for the overall before the conclusion of the race on Sunday.
