2010 Vuelta España – Stage 16 – Schleck Moves

Mikel Nieve (Euskaltel) has won the dramatic 16th stage to claim his first major win of his young professional career. For the Euskaltel-Euskadi team, no site could be more sweet than having their orange-clad rider cross the line in first place after losing both the race leader, Igor Anton, and super domestic Egoi Martinez in Saturday’s brutal crash. Fränk Schleck also made a big move today, finishing second and vaulting himself up the overall into 4th. Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, Joaquin Rodriguez took back the Red jersey from Vincenzo Nibali and now holds a 33 second advantage through tomorrows rest day and into Tuesday’s individual TT.
