Theo Bos (Cervélo) has won the first stage of the Vuelta a Castilla y León over Australian Graeme Brown (Rabobank) and Pablo Urtasen (Euskaltel-Euskadi) on today’s 158km stage into Burgos. The stage which featured rain and stormy weather at times was dictated by a 71km breakaway of three riders who built up a maximum lead of up to 3 minutes.

The group was reeled in slowly and by the ultimo kilometer the race was securely in the control of the Cervélo Test Team. Theo Bos closed out the stage nicely for his team with the stage win to take Cervélo’s first GC jersey this season. Favorites Alberto Contador and Denis Menchov finished with the same time in the main group.
