2010 Vuelta a Pais Vasco – Stage 4

In an incredible queen stage of the Vuelta a Pais Vasco, Sammy Sanchez has won the fourth stage by stomping his authority on the final climb. The Peloton chased a breakaway group of five riders into Eibar trailing by 34 seconds, however, the chase group caught the break on the Cat 1 finish and then the fireworks really started.

The first attack came at the 5km mark by Andy Schleck seeming to test the others, which dropped some of the main contenders, following that Horner went off the front with a big surge, which devastated the group. Only Samuel Sanchez seemed capable of chasing. Sanchez caught Horner with 3 km to go while Valverde and Gesink chased. Int he final descent to the finish line, Sanchez sprinted away and Valverde and Gesink cam around Horner to finish second and third respectively.
