Tirreno – Adriatico – Stage 6

Mikhail Ignatiev has won the sixth stage of the Tirreno – Adriatico with a well-timed late break on the uphill finish into Macerata. Ignatiev edged out the quickly closing Stefano Garzelli and Cadel Evans by 5 seconds in the last few meters to the line. The overall GC standings have been disrupted, but with Michele Scarponi still leading into tomorrows final stage from Civitanova Marche to San Benedetto del Tronto. Stefano Garzelli picked up 2 seconds on Scarponi and a 8 second time bonus to now trail Scarponi by a mere 2 seconds for the overall. Cadel Evans leap-frogged Iglinsky to move into third place now just twelve seconds back.
