Enrico Gasparotto won the fifth sthttps://cimacoppirides.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post-new.phpage of the Tirreno – Adriatico over his four-break sprint mates Stefano Garzelli, Maxim Iglinskiy and Cadel Evans. In the first of a series of great events on the day for Astana, Gasparotto gave a confident showing for the team and his leader. With Contador winning in Nice, Gasparotto demonstrated that the Astana team may not be as weak as some were hinted at for the upcoming Tour de France – an idea that Team Radioshack had been hinting at since the beginning of the season.
Back in Colmurano, the final GC standings are starting to solidify with possible podium placings for Stefano Garzelli, Cadel Evans and Robert Gesink. Michele Scarponi, last years winner, still remains in the lead of the race after his strong breakaway performance on the final climb of Stage 4.
