Paris – Nice – Stage 5

Peter Sagan has won his second stage of the Paris-Nice. This rider is incredible, a neo-pro winning two stages of one of the biggest stage races of the year outside of the grand three. Amazing. Invest in shares of Peter Sagan now, this kid is going to be great. He outlasted Mirco Lorenzetto (Lampre) who took second and Alejandro Valverde (Caisse D’Epargne) who took third. Sagan attacked with his final surge from an incredible 1.5km from the line and noone could close the gap as he powered home.

The overall classification remains unchanged after the stage with the exception of Valverde who picked up four bonus seconds by finishing third in the final sprint, so he edges ever closer to Contador and the yellow jersey. With that said, he would need to garner many more of those third place finishes to close that gap, but every second does help.
