The sprinters’ teams of Quickstep, Sky, Garmin and Liquigas were much more emphatic to chase down the breakaway after being caught with their pants down on stage 1 yesterday. However the break group of four containing Alan Marangoni (Colnago-CSF Inox), Diego Caccia (ISD-Neri), Alan Perez Lezaun (Euskaltel-Euskadi) and Mikhail Ignatiev (Katusha) were again able to stay away until only 3.5km remaining.
