Preview: Tirreno-Adriatico – Mar. 10th-16th

The 2010 Tirreno-Adriatico gets underway tomorrow as the two most important early season multi-stage races, the other being Paris-Nice, overlap for 5 days. Historically, the Tirreno-Adriatico, which concludes March 16th, has been the race to watch for early indications on riders and their form for the upcoming Milan-San Remo classic (Mar.20th) and, perhaps, the much later Giro D’Italia (May 8th-30th).

Notables attending the Tirreno-Adriatico include: Defending Champ Michele SCARPONI (Androni Giocattoli), GARZELLI (Acqua-Sapone), VINOKOUROV (Astana), EVANS (BMC), BRUSEGHIN (Caisse D’Epargne), HUSHOVD (Cervelo), FARRAR (Garmin), VISCONTI (ISD), PETACCHI (Lampre), PELLIZOTTI, NIBALI, BENNATI (Liquigas), BOONEN, DEVOLDER (Quickstep), FREIRE (Rabobank), BOASSON HAGEN (Sky), CAVENDISH, LÖFKVIST (Columbia), POZZATO, KIRCHEN, McEWEN (Katusha), GERDEMANN (Milram) and CANCELLARA, ANDY SCHLECK (Saxo Bank). In other words, more than just a few big names will be there.
