Ladies and Gentlemen, I’d like to introduce you to Alberto Contador. Heard of him? Yes, really? Well, he won again today. The man from Madrid can really fly when the road turns up, and he reminded everyone of that with his performance on stage 3 today. His first race, his first mountain, his first win. Contador beat two guys from a Shack by 11 and 22 seconds, Machado and Leipheimer, up the 2.7km Alto do Malhão for the win.
All I can tell you is the peleton better get their time trial booties on, cause no one can climb like Bert, and he ain’t bad against the clock either. Contador, in his first race since the 2009 Tour de France looks set to defend his title in the Volta ao Algarve. It should all come down to the stage 5 TT on Sunday.
